You’ll want to take him to the vet! He could get an infection and that can and probably would kill him!

To answer your question, probably. You are going to have to be a good pet owner and seriously assess the injury. If there is any question that the forearm is broken, you’re going to have to take your rat to a vet. If it is just a break in the skin, you’re going to have to watch VERY carefully to make sure that it does not become infected. A little antibiotic ointment may help, although, your rat may attempt to lick this off and covering it with anything will not usually help as they will chew any type of bandage off. Good luck and, in the future, keep the rat away from the cat. Mine always got along fine, but that’s not always the case and tragic things can happen when you’re not sure. kudos to you for caring enough for ask. Rats are amazing creatures!
