I was told by a friend that feeding chocolate and/or onions to a cat often results in the death of the animal. Is it the food itself or a complication of problems that occur from the ingestion of these foods?

Yes, it depends on how hard you throw the onion!
I know they are hazardous to dogs so most likely they are harmful to cats as well.
Chocolate is poisonous to cats, something to do with the ingredients that we can digest and they can’t. I haven’t heard of anyone even giving onions to cats, but I can’t imagine they’re that good for them.
Any kind of food with sugar in it is hazardous for cats, because sugar destroys their liver. That’s the case for chocolate, but I couldn’t understand: What on earth could be the reason to feed a cat with onions?!
Yes chocolate is very bad for cats. And why would you want to feed onions to your cat anyway? they probably wont eat it. I know mine wouldnt
Yes chocolate(Methylxanthines
-caffeine) and cooked onions are toxic to cats. Peteducation.com

Onions,Garlic ,Avacados and chocolate are all toxic to cats. They have a way of destroying the red blood cells in the cat.
Yes to both. Never give any human food to your pet before doing some research to ensure that it isn’t harmful. Many food that is ok for us could kill them.
